• PowerCoil wire thread inserts are installed into oversize tapped holes.
• Only PowerCoil STI (Screw Thread Insert) Taps are suitable for use with PowerCoil Wire Thread Inserts.
• STI Taps have a larger diameter, than standard taps, but the same pitch to accommodate the wire thread insert.
• Once the insert is installed in the tapped hole it creates the desired internal thread tolerance for the installed bolt or stud.
• Bottoming Taps have a lead of two threads and are used to ensure minimum thread run-out when tapping to the bottom of a blind hole.
• Intermediate Taps have a lead of four threads and are used in most general purpose applications to cut a thread true to a pre-drilled pilot hole.
